How to say you're sorry (for real)
You know one of my big fat red buttons? Triggers? Allergies? Lame sorry’s.
It’s OK to make mistakes.
Really.
I don’t mind that you upset me from time to time — because hey, we’re all only human.
But don’t look at me with puppy eyes afterwards, mumbling sorry-sorry-sorry.
If you did something wrong: OWN IT!
An apology is NOT about stopping me from being angry at you.
(because if you’re allowed to upset me — I’m allowed to be upset!)
An apology is about UNDERSTANDING what you did wrong.
LEARNING from it.
And then making sure you never ever do it again 😉
Changed behavior is the only real apology.
