Own your life - Then Rock it - One habit at a time

Not my monkey

Did you know this Polish proverb?

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

I'd heard it before, and came across it again this week, somewhere.

It's so spot-on, it makes me smile, every time. I can just see myself doing the opposite: make everything my circus. Monkeys? Bring em on! I'll adopt them :-).

I probably should cover my walls & mirrors with post-its, reminding myself: 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'

Repeat to myself: I cannot solve everything. And that's OK.

But it works the other way around as well. Sometimes I'm having big arguments (usually in my head, usually when driving my car) about how things should be (the world, other people).

But it is my circus. These are my monkeys. I'm part of the madness too.

Repeat to myself: Yeah, yeah, they should have done something different. But what could I do now to make it better?

Some days we take too much on our shoulders.

Other days, there is no place for anything.

But it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Unless we make it so.

What if we opt for 'co-ownership.'

It's our circus, our monkeys.

How can we deal with them together?

What can I do to help?
